Hello dear blog readers! My group and I have started reading "The Life of Pi", and so far my impressions are not very positive. Though I am absolutely aware that there is a heavy dose of symbolism in the story, it is still very hard to track, and the book has no clear order. Of course, this is my opinion, and I do not negate any others opinions. This time I was the art director, and my task was to draw a picture related to a significant part of the story. This time, I drew a scene were the cargo ship "Tsimtsum" sinks, and Pi manages to survive on a lifeboat. He is stuck with a group of animals, and know he needs to survive in the huge pacific ocean. Below, you can see the image that I drew, and the scene I made:
In general, so far I dislike the book. The author definitely has a different approach towards his novel, but I simply do not like novels that are very indirect, and that do not clearly define what is going on. Though a large amount of symbolism is present, this dose is still too much for my taste, and I simply do not like the book so far. Hopefully, the following parts will be better, as the action is yet to dramatically rise, and the character is going to hopefully go through a series of problems in order to survive in the terrible conditions of the Pacific ocean.I hope you enjoyed my blog, and definetly tune in for more posts! (My image on a sideways profile)
In this scene from the 97th page from the book, we see the cargo ship "Tsimtsum" bent on a side, and sinking into the Pacific ocean. As visible, huge, tall waves surround the ship, eventually causing it to completely turn over and to sink. In the front, we see the main character and a group of animals on the boat, and the ship has been set on fire due to oil spills and events as such. My image comes from page 97, when the ship gets hit by the storm. In general, so far I dislike the book.
