The Hobbit J.R.R Tolkien Connector

The main connection of the book and real life was the setting of the book.  From day 1 to the end of the battle of the five armies Bilbo Baggins and his crew are traveling from place to place.  The crew met new friends, old friends as well as new enemies and old enemies.  The reason this is a connection is because as international students we often move to different places around the world.  Of course the characters moved more and faster but it is still the same idea.  In my opinion I think of their course from Mirkwood to the lonely mountain was about the same as my journey from Norway to Serbia.  It is a whole new experience meeting new people and so on. Another connection that caught my eye was when the crew was with Thorin when he died.  Unfortunately he had been killed during the battle of the five armies.  You might wonder why this is a connection but at the age of 2 i Knew my grandma died when her heart stopped.  The difference is that when Thorin died and Kili and Fili too, the line of Durin was cut and that was slightly worse for the dwarfs.  It would be hard for them to keep living without kinds while i have lived my whole life without my grandma.

Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolken

Hi Guys,
Last time we had our meting we decided to finish all 305 pages of the book, and during reading this book is was supposed to record all the places they went.
The book looks like this:
The action begins when that have just escaped from the trolls and they are planning their trip to go through the forest and how to get to Smaug (Smaug is the dragon that stole all the lonely village's gold). The key events happened in the forest where they made many useful friends and they made some enemies, but the the most exciting part of the book was when Bilbo was looking through  Smaug's cave and talking to Smaug.  Also when they killed Smaug and the war started because they were all fighting for the gold which Smaug protected. The events ended when the battle finished and Bilbo, is friends and the citizens of the village in front of the lonely mountain won. Bilbo is riding home with Gandulf escorting him. When he gets home he finds that all his belongings has been on auction and his house was almost sold too, but it was fine because he bought knew things, he got to keep his house and the dwarves visited him time to time.

There is a skin changer in the chapter we just read. He is the last skin changer know, but there were a lot of them before. In my drawing, I was thinking about the time they are lot of skin changers. The drawing is the clan of skin changers based on my imagination. The animals are all skin changers.

THE HOBBIT-DISCUSSION DIRECTOR

Author: J.R.R Tolkien
Pages read: 200/306
Role: Discussion Director

Hello dear blog readers! I have recently read another portion of my "Literature circles" book, "The Hobbit", by J.R.R Tolkien. The action has really began heating up, as the group have now completed the "easier" part of their adventure, with of course some severe difficulties. This week, I was the discussion director, and my role was to lead a discussion about the book, and to ask five questions, and record other peoples answers. Unfortunately, due to a big misunderstanding, I did not have a chance to record anyone's opinions, so I only have my own. Please note that this blog post will be a little bit shorter than the others, as I simply do not have as much writing content as I needed to receive. So, here are the questions I asked, and my answers to them:

1. Do you think that Gandalf's move to leave the Dwarves in front of the perilous forest of Mirkwood was a just move? ANSWER: Yes, I think it was. After all, he (Gandalf) was never forced to lead the expedition to reclaim Erebor. So, it is in his hands to make all the choices and decisions because he is the ring-leader of the group.

2. Do you think that Biblo Baggins should have slain Gollum in the caves of the Misty Mountains? ANSWER: No, because it would later turn out that Gollum would be a key character in "The Lord of the Rings" series, as she would lead Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee into the dangerous land of Mordor were they would throw the One ring of power into the fires of mount doom, and would end all evil in Middle-Earth forever.

3. Would you have hosted the Dwarves after they arrived at Esgaroth (Lake-town)? ANSWER: No, I would have not. Simply accepting strangers into your home would not be an acceptable option, because they are un-characteristic travelers, that would only bring ill-tidings.

4. Would you have risked your life like Bilbo Baggins did in order to save the Dwarves from Thranduil's guards? ANSWER: Yes. If I had the ring that Biblo had, that would make me invisible, I definitely would have tried saving the Dwarves, because the risks are minimal if you are invisible, and so, the likeliness of saving the Dwarves would have been much higher than without the ring.

5. Overall impressions of this part of the book? ANSWER: Good. This part has definitely been more interesting and more action-packed than the first one, and I really enjoyed the book so far. I am definitely looking forward to the next part of the book, and the true climax.

Thank you for reading my post, and tune in for more!

The Hobbit - J.R.R.TOLKIEN - Chapters 1 to 6 - Cosmo - Summarizer

HOMEWORK PASS

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien

Hello,
Today i am the summarizer  in my group, in my group there are Per, Cosmo and I. We decided together that we should read up to page 91.
At the beginning of the book we get a little description of the Hobbits house, hobbits  are  human looking  and very short. This particular Hobbit was called Bilbo Baggins. He lives underground in a very spacious area. One day Gandulf (he is a wizard) am knocking on Bilbo's door and let himself in, Gandulf had a proposition to make, that if Bilbo goes n an adventure with Gandulf and a group of dwarfs, Baggins could not decide so, Gandulf a few days later with the dwarfs and they managed to persuade Baggins to go on their adventure to go to the dragon (his name is Smuag) in a big mounting and get back their stolen treasure.

Throughout the beginning of the journey they were not having much troubles, they ran into a couple of predators but no one got hurt. Later on it started to rain so they hid in a dry cave to rest only they did not know that in this cave lived goblins. They got attacked by the goblins and teh dwarfs barely made it out, only Baggins fell and hit his heaf, and when he woke up he could not find his way out. Baggins looked around for a while when finnaly he stumbled into Gullum. Gullum is a magical creature that had lived in the dark caves for a very long time. The Gullum was very hungry and wanted to eat Baggins but instead they made a deal that they would ask the other person riddles and whoever did not know teh answer got eaten. They played for a very long time till Baggins asked a question to Gullum and Gullum did not know the answer. Gullum gpt annoyed and would not let Baggins be free,  just he did not know that Baggins had Gullums ring that makes you invisible. So finnaly Baggins managed to get out of the cave safely and "invisible".

The Hobbit Chapters 1-6 Summarizer

Warning:  In the book The hobbit instead of dwarfs it is written dwarves

Week: 1
Book:  The Hobbit
Pages: 92/306
Author: J.R.R Tolkien

Hello Everybody, this meeting everybody in my group (Anka, Cosmo, and I) has been given the job of a summarizer.   After reading the first 92 pages a lot of interesting things have happened  such as the meeting of the dwarfs,  the encounter of the goblins and trolls and lastly their struggle through a mountain rumble.

In the first few pages of the book, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins was greeted by a wizard named Gandalf the Grey who asked him to go on an adventure.  Later a company of dwarves greeted him at his door one after one.  He then decided to become their burglar and went on a journey with them.  On their quest they came across a group of 3 trolls.  The dwarves were defeated but when they thought all hope was Gandalf had saved them by transforming the three horrid creatures into stone which they were once made of.  When they were on their way to the goblin cave they stumbled across what one of my partners named a Mountain rumble.  The mountains they were traveling through woke to life and were fighting among each other.  The company barely got out alive.  Lastly the dwarves were tricked into a goblin palace were they were away by a hoard of Goblins.  Bilbo got away but stumbled across a weird creature named Gollum.  When Gollum discovered Bilbo they created a compromise.  They would play a game of riddles and either Bilbo would be led out, if he won, or he would be eaten, if he lost.  He had gotten a token that Gollum lost which he just thought of as the ring.  He barely got away once Gollum noticed the ring was missing.

Thank You for Reading,

Per Malmin
